 About

Our Foundation

The CSN was founded in 2003 by Christian songwriter James Moore in an effort to link together and promote Christian songwriters. While the CSN has evolved over time, promoting, supporting, and especially networking Christian songwriters in order to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ remains our primary goals. You can check out James' personal music ministry site at MovingTowardChrist.com. Moving Toward Christ

Unfortunately, James’ health has prevented him from continuing a level of participation in the site which he felt was necessary for the mission of CSN. In 2013, he asked Reece Bain to take over ownership of CSN in order to continue the site as it needs.
Reece (aka Beagle) does not hope to fill James’ shoes, as we all know that cannot be done! But it is his hope that he can keep the site running in order to help songwriters across the globe to connect, learn and grow. Please keep Reece and this site in your prayers as we continue through the next few years as commissioned.

A sad ending

Unfortunately this site will no longer be maintained as of 01/27/2024.  The forum associated with CSN had an unrecoverable crash in 2023 for the second time (first time was approximately 2018 or so).  Because of lack of interest (very little traffic, very few posts), it has been decided to retire the site.

It is a sad time for CSN, but without members and moderators to maintain the forum and site, it cannot continue.

God bless you all in your ministry!

Why Network?

First let me start by saying that I’m just a songwriter, barely self published, sometimes anointed, blessed with some radio play, a few websites, and a vision. But I’m getting a little bit ahead of myself already. I founded the Christian Songwriter’s Network (CSN) in 2003, and at that time its sole purpose was to link Christian songwriters’ websites together. I believed that while exchanging links between songwriters’ websites was certainly a worthy endeavor, a centralized hub would be much better. I had made many songwriting friends through the Christian Songwriting Organization (CSO), and over time I felt led to grow another ministry—one of supporting, promoting, and networking Christian songwriters, songwriting chapters, and other songwriting organizations. This has become my passion, on top of my still active personal songwriting/music ministry.

And I believe God has anointed this ministry. Our forum is approaching 4,000 members, and people are both learning and teaching each other, on subjects ranging from songwriting basics to the art of mixing recordings.

Based on user feedback, we’ve also recently made it much easier for our forum visitors to access other Christian songwriting and artist forums. Reciprocal linking is not at all required by our sister sites—it’s better to give than to receive, anyway, according to Acts 20:35.

I also believe Ephesians 4:15-16 describes a pretty good model for our ministry: “Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

The CSN strives to be the ligament, supporting in love that part of the body of Christ which is made up by the Christian songwriting community.

Lastly, from the bottom of my heart I thank YOU for being a part of this ministry; whether you are helping out with moderator duties in our forum, critiquing songs in our forum, or just stopping by to read what we’re all about. This ministry exists because of YOU, and for YOU.
